Calibration and Purge Support for Cold Bed Printing

Topic starter

I have recently been running cold bed prints with PLA and have found the results to be as good or better than anything I have run previously with a heated bed.  I purchased a third party surface similar to the LokBuild surface CEL sells that I adhered to the bed plate to aid in first layer bond.  The parts are a little more of a pain to remove from the bed but so far I have not had any issues.  My question to CEL is whether there are plans to better support cold bed printing and allow for calibration and purge operations with a cold bed.  As near as I can tell both the nozzle alignment and purge operations automatically try to heat the bed before starting to print.  With a cold bed it is not possible to do these operations.

Cold bed printing isn't a priority development for us. You could copy and create a new set of macro files to avoid hot nozzles touching the bed. Making it easier to create this kind of customisation is a feature we want to add but is not expected in near future releases.
