Hi all 🙂
How does the Robox fair with flexible TPU materials like this?
https://fpvframe.ch/fpvx/product/sainsmart-tpu-1-75mm/
Are any brands particularly favoured / more reliable than others?
I've got the dual-material head on my printer at the moment.
Many thanks!
David
As long as you have a flexible filament-compatible extruder fitted it will print with TPU. Your extruder is flexible compatible if its housings are grey or half grey half black, if its all black its not compatible.
It can be a pain to load flexible filament into the robox as it flexes as its shoved up the chute to the extruder, if you insert a 200mm piece of bowden tube into the chute first this then allows you to feed the filament into this piece of bowden which then helps loading without issue.
Hi Lee,
Thanks for your reply!
Yes I have an all-grey dual-material head, like this one:

So it sounds like it should be compatible.
I'll get a reel and see how I get on.
Thanks! 😀
David
PS. Thanks for the tip about the Bowden tube too – what are the dimensions of a Bowden tube (ID and OD) so I can source something suitable?
@hogster bowden is 3mm od 2mm id
Thanks Lee! 👍 I've just ordered some bowden tube, 2mm ID, 4mm OD. Is it safe to push this into the filament guide until it stops? The printer won't try to pull it in I assume? (!)
Many thanks,
David
Thanks for letting me know Lee! 👍
