[Sticky] How to add and test a new language file. AM 3.00.00+

I am Pete Admin

As of the AutoMaker update to 3.00.00 it is far easier to add and test new translation files.

Currently available translation files can be found in this folder

C:Program FilesCELAutoMakerLanguage

To make a new translation file or edit an existing file you should follow these steps:

  1. The standard English file is named as follows.

    Make a copy of the English file and edit the copy, do not change the original file.

  2. Open the file is a text editor, some symbols may not work in some editors, Notepad++ is a good option.
  3. In the text editor, change the text after the = symbol on each line. Do not edit the text before the = symbol or the file will not work. You do not need to change all the lines, you can save the file and test it at any time using the steps in the next section.
  4. Save the file as something appropriate, eg

    for a Japanese translation. the "jp" section needs to be unique, it will be used to call the file via the “roboxpreferences.pref” file when AutoMaker loads.

  5. Follow the steps in the next section to load the file in AutoMaker.
  6. When you are happy with the translation please share you file in this section of the forum in a new topic for each language. This will allow other users to test your file and discuss any changes or additions.

Follow these steps to force AutoMaker to start in any language that has a file available.

  1. Close AutoMaker.
  2. Go to the folder /Documents/CEL Robox/
  3. Find the file “roboxpreferences.pref”.
  4. Make a copy of this file in case you make a mistake.
  5. Edit the original file using a text editor.
  6. Find the line near the top of the file
     "slicerType" : "Cura",
     "safetyFeaturesOn" : true,
     "languageTag" : "",
     "showTooltips" : true,
     "loggingLevel" : "INFO",

    Which says

     "languageTag" : "",
  7. Change this line adding “en” inside the quote marks so it reads, this would start AutoMaker in English, to start in Russian you would use "ru":
      "languageTag" : "en",
  8. Save the file, make sure it still has the same file extension.
  9. Start AutoMaker, it will now use the language you have specified if it is available.

    If AutoMaker wont start then there may be an error in the file you are loading try changing the line back to the default

    "languageTag" : "",

    or to

    "languageTag" : "en",
